PERAN PEMERINTAH DAERAH DALAM MENGURANGI ANGKA PUTUS SEKOLAH TINGKAT SMP DI KOTA BANJAR
Abstract
The government has a very important role in supporting Indonesia's young generation in improving the quality of education. This study aims to examine the role of the Banjar City Government in reducing the dropout rate at the junior high school level. Data collection techniques include: observation, interviews, documentation. The data obtained from the research was processed using descriptive qualitative data analysis. The results show that the role and concern of the Banjar City government is quite significant, as evidenced by the low dropout rate. The government plays various roles such as community servant, facilitator, companion, funder and partner. As a community servant, the Banjar City Government together with the Office of Education and Culture as the leading sector in education and schools cooperate in providing guidance and receiving complaints about children's problems at school. In its role as facilitator, the Banjar City Education and Culture Office has channeled assistance from the central government, namely the School Operational Fund (BOS), which is used to provide educational facilities. Although the government does not go directly to the community, they provide direction to the school to assist students in an effort to reduce the dropout rate. However, there are still obstacles faced, including students' lack of motivation, disharmonious family conditions, negative playground influences and excessive gadget use. To overcome this, continuous cooperation between the local government, schools, parents and students themselves is needed.
